Homebuyer Orientation

This free, 60-minute orientation will teach you the basic steps to becoming a successful homeowner, explain the products and services available through the Home Ownership Center and Home HeadQuarters, and give you an overview of the 8-hour Homebuyer Education Course. This is a pre-requisite to the Homebuyer Education Course. 

Homebuyer Education Course

In this 8-hour course, you will learn all of the ins and outs of buying a home and becoming a successful homeowner. This is a great class for first-time buyers or anyone looking to learn more about homeownership. Cost: $49/person or $75/couple for weekday classes and $75/person and $99/couple for Saturday classes.

    eHome America

    The Homeownership Center partners with eHome America to provide an online homebuyer education course that is based on the NeighborWorks America's Realizing the American Dream curriculum and meets the National Industry Standards for homebuyer education. In order to receive a certificate of completion from the Home Ownership Center at Home HeadQuarters, you are required to attend a one-on-one counseling session after you have completed the online Homebuyer Education Course.To schedule your one-on-one session, please call (315)474-1939. Go to ehome America for more information…

    General System Requirements

    In order to navigate the eHome America online course, it is recommended that you have:

    • A broadband Internet connection (dial-up users can navigate the course but will have a difficult time watching videos)
    • An Internet Browser (Internet Explorer 6 or newer, Firefox, Safari; mobile browsers are OK)
    • 512 MB of RAM (to ensure smooth playback of video)
    • Adobe Flash Player which can be downloaded here.
    • Java.  Java can be downloaded here if you need it.
    • Access to a printer (for printing of any page you may want to save for future reference)

    Thanks to a May 2016 update, all eHome America course content is accessible on mobile devices, and all videos are in full HD that will work on both computers and phones/tablets.

    Understanding & Preventing Foreclosure Workshops

    This free, 2-hour workshop is the first step for homeowners who are at risk of losing their home as it provides a general overview of the foreclosure process and explains the steps you need to take to save your home. This is a pre-requisite to participating in the Foreclosure Prevention Program.   Classes are offered in the following counties:
